Emergency Food in a Nutshell
Emergency Food in a Nutshell
by: Leslie D. Probert and Lisa L. Harkness
This book is a well organized, comprehensive, and condensed source of information for anyone needing basic food storage knowledge. The first chapter gives good short answers to why and how to store food storage followed by a chapter of estimated food storage needs compiled in a easy to understand chart. There are tips on how to economically collect food storage and how long it will last. A bonus to this information is the tips on different types of fruits, vegetables, meats, and cheeses.
The recipe section is well organized with the following sections; breakfast, mixes, breads, salads, soups, main dishes, side dishes, desserts, cookies and sweets, drinks, and garden harvest recipes.
After all the recipes, charts and pictures are presented on how to store food, conversion charts and guidelines, five week meal plan, cooking options, a short section on gardening, and canning your own long term food storage.
Overall this book is one of the best books available, because it offers the information you’ll need to survive in extreme emergencies with the exceptions of gardening and non-food storage items.
